Eligibility Criteria for Florida Residents:

1. Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its equivalent.

2. Be a 2022 National Merit® Scholar.

3. Enroll in the 2022-23 fall academic term after high school graduation.

4. Note: Non-Florida residents are not eligible for the Benacquisto Scholarship from the 2022-23 academic year onwards.

   National Merit® Scholar Recognition:

  • - A 2021 National Merit® Finalist becomes a Scholar by receiving:
  •   - (a) National Merit® $2500 Scholarship,
  •   - (b) Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship®, or
  •   - (c) College-sponsored Merit Scholarship®.
  • - Special Corporate Scholarships and Presidential awards do not qualify for the Benacquisto Scholarship.

     Application Process:

  • 1. Apply to FAMU and choose from our 54 bachelor's degrees, 29 master's degrees, three professional degrees, and twelve doctoral degrees.
  • 2. Ensure submission of official high school and/or college/university transcripts.
  • 3. Provide official Redesigned SAT (code: 5215) or ACT (code: 0726) scores if applicable.
  • 4. Submit official GED transcript or TOEFL/IELTS score if applicable.

     Career Planning Requirement:

  1. Starting fall 2022, all undergraduate students must follow the university's career planning procedures during their first academic year. This includes:
  2. 1. Registering with the university’s career center.
  3. 2. Completing a career readiness training module.
  4. 3. Reviewing the State University System dashboard for financial data and post-baccalaureate education percentages
  5. FAMU Students must visit the Canvas Community for Career and Professional Development Center at [famu.instructure.com](#) during their first semester.

     Scholarships:
