       Scholarship Details:

FES, the oldest political foundation in Germany, rooted in social democracy, was founded in 1925. The scholarship, inspired by the legacy of Friedrich Ebert, aims to support students committed to freedom, justice, and social cohesion in their pursuit of social democracy.

       Scholarship Requirements:

To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

- Languages: English / German

- Eligible Countries: Gifted students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe

- Aptitudes and personalities demonstrating promise for an academic or professional career

- Admission/enrollment at a state or state-recognized higher-education institution in Germany

- Sufficient knowledge of German (DSH level 2, Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache level 4, or Zertifikat C1)

- Commitment to the values of social democracy

- Above-average academic performance

- Desired qualities: political thinking, thirst for knowledge, tolerance, openness, team orientation, critical ability, self-reflection

     Scholarship Duration and Reward:

Foreign scholarship holders receive:

  • 934 € per month (basic scholarship programme) / 1,200 € per month (graduate scholarship programme)
  • 276 € family allowance (if applicable)
  • Refund of health care costs
  • Any income exceeding 400 € per month will be credited against the scholarship.

                  Expectations:

FES expects scholarship holders to participate in extracurricular activities, achieve above-average academic results, and continue and intensify their socio-political commitment.

   Note:

- FES supports all academic subjects, students from public or state-approved universities, and postgraduate programs (PhD).

- FES does not support second degree courses, study visits outside Germany, final phases of academic studies, or postgraduate courses in medicine.
